In 1989, in order to make the title more accessible to new readers, as well as to allow Keith Giffen to follow his own personal muse, The Legion of Super-Heroes was relaunched. Set five years into the future from the conclusion of the last series, the relaunch showed old friends in new circumstances. It also introduced some new characters, as well as said farewell to some old ones. It ran 61 issues, the first 38 of which were the direct product of Giffen himself. Criticized by some, loved by others, the fourth volume of The Legion of Super-Heroes was arguably the series most controversial.

Within these pages you are invited to take a look back at the series at the center of the storm. Included are character bios, plot synopsis, and art not seen since its original publication.
